5 Best Upper Body Kettlebell Exercises

In this exercise you are going to work your shoulders a lot, your chest when you press overhead, as well as your triceps. By doing this one arm exercise you will be less likely to develop imbalances when you train. The second upper body KB exercise is a rowing exercise. In this one-armed row, a greater emphasis will be placed on minimizing the rotation and using your abs a lot more to help achieve this. You will be loaded on one side, so your abs will have to work extra hard to prevent any excessive rotation in his torso. Another exercise that really works the upper back and the shoulders is the kettlebell snatches. This is an explosive total body exercise and in fact, you will find that all the KB exercises work your entire body. The next kettlebell exercise is the overhead press. So you will clean the KB up to your shoulder, keeping your arm nice and tight so as to not overexpose your shoulder and then press the KB up nice and high, and then back down to your shoulder and repeat. As you are completing this exercise you want to keep your body as tight as you possibly can, using your abs. So, try not to rotate or bend. The last exercise is the floor press. This will be as close as you get to doing a regular chest exercise when you’re working out exclusively with kettlebells. So, you are

    @Azishome Eh…..I was hoping that alone would suffice, because I probably couldn’t explain it…but I’ll try. For better advice, check out Pavel Tsatsouline. Basically, you have to figure a way to move the the ball of the kettlebell around your hand so it won’t come crashing against your wrist.

  3. To avoid the kettlebell “slapping” your wrist/arm and causing bruising, “punch” at the top of the movement. Also, I don’t usually perform these using a swing unless I am focusing on cardio. Check my version out!

    Word To The Wise:

    DO NOT let the kettlebell “flop” over your hand and against your arm. Work your hand around the kettlebell instead. Bruised arms and hairline fractures suck. I suggest checking out Enter The Kettlebell to see how the absolute master of kb’s does it.

    dont have your legs too wide and check you have no imbalance in the muscles beforehand

  12. The explosive kettlebell exercises put my lower back in too much pain (groin too). I’m not even close to being an old man and I’m sure as hell not out of shape.. i just find them to put too much pressure on certain areas. Any advice on how to perform Kettlebell cleans without feeling like your spine or balls are going to explode?

    there in pretty good shape. Not everyone is looking to have big bodybuilders body. Kettlebell is more about real strength, it wont really build a lot of muscle mass.

  24. @rmsolympic1 –yeah, you’ll get some kettlebell kisses for the first few workouts. You have to really practice (especially on the snatch) punching you hand to the top of the movement so it beats the KB to the top. The clean is much more rotational and isn’t too bad on the wrist.

  25. What’s the advantage of a floor press over regular push ups?
